Aaron Katz is an American filmmaker who has directed several feature films, including Quiet City (2007), Dance Party, USA (2006), and Cold Weather (2010). He is also the co-founder of the filmmaking collective, The Duplass Brothers. Katz was born in Portland, Oregon, and attended the University of Oregon, where he studied film. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles and began working as an editor and assistant director. Katz's first feature film, Quiet City, premiered at the 2007 South by Southwest Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2008. His second feature, Dance Party, USA, premiered at the 2006 Los Angeles Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2007. His third feature, Cold Weather, premiered at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2011. Katz has also directed several short films, including The High Cost of Living (2005), The House of the Devil (2006), and The Lie (2008). He has also directed episodes of the television series Portlandia and Togetherness. Katz is currently in pre-production on his fourth feature film, Gemini.
