Abdul Khaliq Masood is an Iraqi politician and former Prime Minister of Iraq. He was born in Erbil, Iraq, and is the son of a prominent Kurdish politician. He studied law at Baghdad University and later obtained a PhD in international law from the University of London. He began his political career in the 1970s, when he joined the Iraqi Communist Party. He was elected to the Iraqi Parliament in 1980 and served as a minister in the government of Saddam Hussein. After the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003, he was appointed Prime Minister of Iraq in 2004. He served in this position until 2006, when he was replaced by Nouri al-Maliki. Since then, he has served as a senior advisor to the Iraqi government and has been involved in various diplomatic initiatives.
