Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna was an Indian politician and social activist who served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 1971 to 1975. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and was a leader of the Garhwal region. Bahuguna was born on 15 June 1927 in Pauri Garhwal, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling from the Government High School in Pauri and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Government College in Dehradun. He later obtained a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Allahabad. Bahuguna began his political career in the 1950s and was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1962. He served as the Minister of Education in the Uttar Pradesh government from 1967 to 1971. In 1971, he was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and held the post until 1975. Bahuguna was also a social activist and was involved in various social causes. He was the founder of the Garhwal Vikas Sangh and was also the president of the All India Kisan Sabha. He was also a member of the National Integration Council and the National Integration Council of India. Bahuguna passed away on 28 April 2021 at the age of 93.
