Adnan Houri is a Syrian athlete who was born on 13 February, 1955 in Syria. He is best known for his achievements in the sport of athletics, particularly in the long jump. He is the first Syrian athlete to win an Olympic medal, having won a bronze medal in the long jump at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Houri began his athletic career in the late 1970s, competing in the long jump and triple jump. He won the gold medal in the long jump at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, India, and the silver medal in the triple jump at the 1983 Mediterranean Games in Casablanca, Morocco. Houri's greatest achievement came at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he won the bronze medal in the long jump. He also competed in the triple jump at the Olympics, but did not make the final. Houri continued to compete in athletics until the late 1980s, and he also served as the president of the Syrian Athletics Federation from 1988 to 1992. He is currently the president of the Syrian Olympic Committee. Houri is married and has two children. He currently resides in Damascus, Syria.
