Afsaneh Mashayekhi Beschloss is an Iranian-American economist and investment strategist. She is the founder and CEO of RockCreek, a global investment and advisory firm. She is also a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Born in Tehran, Iran, Beschloss earned her bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Tehran in 1977. She then moved to the United States to pursue her master's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. She later earned her PhD in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. Beschloss began her career as an economist at the World Bank in 1983. She then moved to the International Monetary Fund in 1989, where she served as the Deputy Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department. In 1997, she joined the Carlyle Group, where she served as the Managing Director and Head of International Private Equity. In 2004, Beschloss founded RockCreek, a global investment and advisory firm. She currently serves as the CEO of the firm. She is also a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
