Ahmed Mestiri is a Tunisian politician who served as Prime Minister of Tunisia from 1969 to 1970. He was born on 2 July 1925 in Tunis, Tunisia. Mestiri studied law at the University of Tunis and was a professor of law at the same university. He was a member of the Tunisian National Assembly from 1956 to 1969 and was appointed Prime Minister of Tunisia in 1969. He served in this position until 1970. Mestiri was a member of the Tunisian Constitutional Assembly from 1971 to 1974 and was a member of the Tunisian Senate from 1974 to 1981. He was also a member of the Tunisian Constitutional Council from 1981 to 1987. Mestiri was a member of the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2015. He was also a member of the International Commission of Jurists and the International Institute of Human Rights. Mestiri is 96 years old as of 2021. He is married and has two children.
