Timeline
A Russian Navy Steregushchiy-class corvette is named after him. (2019)
Aldar Batorovich Tsydenzhapov (Russian: Алда́р Ба́торович Цыденжа́пов ) was a conscript seaman of the destroyer Bystry of the Russian Pacific Fleet who was the only fatal victim of a fire that broke out on the destroyer on 28 September 2010. He was awarded posthumously the Gold Star of the Hero of the Russian Federation for his role in extinguishing the fire and preventing the blast.
Aldar Tsydenzhapov was born August 4, 1991, in Aginskoye, Agin-Buryat Autonomous Okrug. He was the youngest in the family, along with his twin sister Aruna, and had an older brother, Bulat, and sister, Irina. His father, Bator Tsydenzhapov, is a retired law enforcement employee, and mother, Biligma Tsydenzhapova, is a kindergarten nurse. After graduating from the hometown middle school № 1 in 2009, Tsydenzhapov was called up to military service in November and transferred to the military unit № 40074 of the Pacific Fleet, stationed in Fokino, Primorsky Krai. Aldar received this honor for an act of bravery committed on 28 September 2010. He extinguished a fire that broke out on the destroyer "Bystry" and was the only fatal victim. The fuel pipeline had burst in the engine room before the destroyer "Bystry" left the harbor, and fuel under high pressure surged into the engine room. There were five seamen at that moment. The fire broke out due to an unintentional spark, smoke engulfing the room. One of the mechanics on the engine room team, Aldar, responded first in the emergency situation. He rushed with a wrench to close the water supply to the boiler, thereby preventing potential disastrous explosion of the power station. The valve was located in the epicenter of the fire. He was badly burned and while beginning to lose consciousness he left engine room by himself. He performed his duty in about 9 seconds under conditions in which a person can not do anything. 19 year old Aldar was severely burned and died 4 day later. His act of bravery will forever be part of the history of the Russian Navy. He sacrificed himself in order to save the 300 members crew and the battleship. His name will forever be in the crew member list of the destroyer "Bystry" and his bed will be forever perfectly made and untouchable.
