In the spring of 2022 Vedyakhin was included (along with Herman Gref) in the US, Canada and UK sanctions lists.
In March 2021, Vedyakhin joined the government working group on systemic technological changes in the field of industrial construction (head Andrey Belousov).
In September 2021, he was included in the government working group on research centres in the field of Artificial Intelligence (head Dmitry Chernyshenko).
At the end of 2021, he became co-chairman of the executive committee of the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Russia.

After the purchase of the Turkish DenizBank by Sberbank (2012), Vedyakhin moved to the position of Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and joined the Board of Directors of the Turkish bank.
