Ali Hussnein was an Italian-Libyan politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Libya from 1954 to 1957. He was born in Tripoli, Italian Tripolitania, on 20 March 1925. He studied law at the University of Rome and graduated in 1950. Hussnein was a member of the National Congress of Libya and was appointed Prime Minister in 1954. He served in this position until 1957, when he was replaced by Mahmud al-Muntasir. During his tenure, he worked to improve the country's infrastructure and economy. He also worked to improve relations with other countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. After leaving office, Hussnein continued to serve in various diplomatic roles. He was appointed Ambassador to the United Nations in 1961 and served in this role until 1965. He also served as Ambassador to the United States from 1965 to 1969. Hussnein died on 28 April 2018 at the age of 93. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
