Aliko Kibona is a Tanzanian politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Tanzania from 1995 to 2005. He was born in Tanganyika, now Tanzania, on 16 May 1956. Kibona attended the University of Dar es Salaam, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in International Relations at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. Kibona began his political career in the early 1980s, when he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of President Julius Nyerere. He served in this position until 1985, when he was appointed as the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs. In 1995, he was appointed as the Prime Minister of Tanzania, a position he held until 2005. Kibona is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tanzania Investment Bank. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank. Kibona is married to Mary Kibona and they have two children. He is 64 years old.
