Amir Sufi is an American economist and professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a leading expert on consumer credit and household debt, and his research has been widely cited in the media. He is the co-author of the book House of Debt: How They (and You) Caused the Great Recession, and What We Can Do About It. Sufi was born in Topeka, Kansas, and grew up in the Midwest.
