AbdelRahman Shaalan is an Egyptian filmmaker and director. He is best known for his work on the short films "The Last Day" and "The Last Night". He has also directed music videos for various artists, including the Egyptian singer-songwriter Amr Diab. Shaalan was born in Cairo, Egypt, and grew up in the city's Heliopolis district. He attended the American University in Cairo, where he studied film and television production. After graduating, he worked as a camera assistant and director of photography on various projects. In 2017, Shaalan wrote and directed his first short film, "The Last Day". The film was selected to be screened at the Cairo International Film Festival, and was nominated for the Best Short Film award. In 2018, Shaalan wrote and directed his second short film, "The Last Night". The film was selected to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for the Palme d'Or. Shaalan is currently working on his first feature film, which is set to be released in 2021. He is also developing a television series for Netflix.
