Abdul Sattar Khan was a Pakistani politician and statesman who served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1973 to 1977. He was born on 1 October 1915 in the village of Charsadda in the North-West Frontier Province of British India. He was educated at the University of Peshawar and the University of Punjab, where he obtained a degree in law. He began his political career in the 1940s, when he joined the Muslim League and was elected to the provincial assembly of the North-West Frontier Province in 1946. He was appointed as the Governor of the North-West Frontier Province in 1969 and served in that position until 1972. In 1973, he was appointed as the Prime Minister of Pakistan and served in that position until 1977. During his tenure as Prime Minister, he implemented a number of economic and social reforms, including the nationalization of banks and industries, the introduction of a minimum wage, and the establishment of a national health service. He also worked to improve relations with India and the United States. Abdul Sattar Khan died on 18 April 2003 at the age of 87. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
