He also wrote and produced the films Death Becomes Her and The Last Boy Scout. Beason was born in Los Angeles, California, and attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied film and television. After graduating, he began working in the entertainment industry, writing for television shows such as The Wonder Years and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In 1993, Beason wrote and produced the film Death Becomes Her, starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. The film was a critical and commercial success, earning Beason an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. In 1998, Beason wrote and produced the film The Last Boy Scout, starring Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans. The film was a box office success, grossing over $100 million worldwide. Beason went on to write and produce the television series Charmed, which ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006. He also wrote and produced the television movie Charmed: The Final Chapter in 2006. Beason has since written and produced several other films and television shows, including the television series The Gates and the film The Perfect Game.
