Akbar Kalili is an Iranian alpine skier who was born in 1956. He is one of the most successful Iranian alpine skiers, having won several medals in international competitions. He has competed in the Winter Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup events. Kalili began skiing at the age of 12 and quickly rose to prominence in the sport. He won his first international medal in 1977, a bronze in the slalom at the World Championships. He went on to win a silver medal in the slalom at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. Kalili has also won several medals in World Cup events, including a gold in the slalom in 1982 and a bronze in the giant slalom in 1984. He has also won several medals in the Asian Winter Games, including a gold in the slalom in 1985 and a silver in the giant slalom in 1989. Kalili retired from competitive skiing in 1990 and is now a coach and mentor to young Iranian skiers. He is also a member of the Iranian Ski Federation.
