In 2006, Escalle met French pop-star Mylene Farmer which asked him to project "Le Conte du Monde Flottant" as the first part of her 13 Paris-Bercy shows, but also to conceive the visual effects of her show (Avant que l'Ombre a Bercy 2006). Escalle works as much in France as abroad, and particularly in Japan, where he directed many commissioned works such as "Ntt Data", about the world of surrealist painter Salvador Dali. He lately directed the new film for "Miracle", a perfume by Lancome, starring Diane Kruger (Troy, Mon Idole) as the new icon for the brand. He also directed "Manga Maker", a short film to launch J. P. Gaultier's new fragrance - Gauthier Puissance 2.
This short film, which was made of the stuff of dreams, won a raft of awards in some major world-class festivals: it won the "Grand Prix" at the 2002 Imagina festival and passed the first selection round at the 2003 Cesars festival - the French equivalent to the Academy awards.
This work was recently transferred to the Museum of Art Roger Quillot in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne (France) to be projected onto a glass water tank as part of a new installation He then directed his first short film, entitled "D'apres le naufrage" (the film dealt with the eponymous "Radeau de la Meduse" shipwreck tragedy) in 1994. His film came out first at the Scam festival and third at the Imagina festival, where Escalle competed in the Arts section.
After many visits to Japan between 1993 and 2004, Escalle decided to dwell on Japanese culture and created "Le conte du Monde flottant" (The Tale of The Floating World).
1992 proved a turning-point for Escalle, as he became digital image director for his first video installation, entitled "Le radeau de la Meduse", first displayed at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris in 1993 (an ART 3000 event).
After working for a year as an assisting director - and story-boarder, he discovered the world of video Art and Visual effects in Paris in 1991, where he worked as an visual effects assistant on the Peter Greenaway's video dance project entitled "M for Man, Music and Mozart".
