Alie Boorsma is a Dutch speed skater who was born on 22 July, 1959 in Drachten, Netherlands. She is 61 years old. Boorsma began her career in speed skating in 1975, and went on to become one of the most successful Dutch speed skaters of all time. She won a total of five medals at the Winter Olympics, including two gold medals in the 500 m and 1000 m events at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. She also won two silver medals in the 500 m and 1000 m events at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Boorsma also won a total of seven medals at the World Allround Speed Skating Championships, including four gold medals in the 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m, and 3000 m events. She also won three silver medals in the 500 m, 1000 m, and 1500 m events. Boorsma retired from competitive speed skating in 1990. She currently works as a coach and is a member of the Dutch Olympic Committee.
