He is best known for his roles in films such as Chhoti Si Baat (1975), Gol Maal (1979), and Sholay (1975). Biswas started his career in the 1950s, appearing in Bengali films such as Chhaya Surya (1954) and Jiban Trishna (1955). He made his Hindi film debut in the 1960s with the film Chhoti Si Baat (1975). He went on to appear in several other Hindi films such as Gol Maal (1979), Sholay (1975), and Chupke Chupke (1975). Biswas has also appeared in several Tamil films such as Thillana Mohanambal (1968), Thirumalai (1969), and Thillu Mullu (1981). He has also acted in television serials such as Hum Log (1984) and Buniyaad (1986). Biswas has won several awards for his work, including the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Chhoti Si Baat (1975).
