2012

In October 2012 he signed with Andhra Pradesh for two years. Midway through the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy he made himself unavailable for the season and instead decided to mentor Andhra Youngsters.

2009

In September 2009, Amol moved to Assam after he was not selected in the Mumbai squad for the Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy. With this he followed in the footsteps of his Mumbai teammate, Sairaj Bahutule.

2002

Muzumdar considered quitting the game in 2002, but since then he has continued to serve the Mumbai cricket team with distinction. In the 2006–07 season, he was appointed captain and led the team to victory in the Ranji Trophy. In January 2007, he became the highest-ever run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai beating the record set by Ashok Mankad.

1994

Muzumdar was named as the vice-captain of the Indian U-19 cricket team for their tour of England in 1994. He was regarded as one of the country's finest prospects and was labelled the "new Tendulkar". He also played for the India A side in the 1994–95 season alongside Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.

1993

On his first-class debut for Bombay, he scored 260 against Haryana at Faridabad in a Ranji Trophy match in the 1993–94 season. This was a record for any player on their debut in first-class cricket until it was broken by Ajay Rohera in December 2018.

He held the record for the most runs scored in the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class cricket competition, breaking the record held by Amarjit Kaypee. However, this record was later broken by Wasim Jaffer. Despite his success at domestic level, he was never selected for the Indian national team.
