Anca Groza is a Romanian swimmer who was born on 23 January, 1956 in Bucharest, Romania. She is a three-time Olympic medalist, having won two silver medals in the 200m butterfly and one bronze medal in the 400m individual medley at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. She also won two gold medals at the 1974 European Championships in Vienna. Groza is a four-time world record holder in the 200m butterfly, and held the world record for the event from 1974 to 1978. She was also the first woman to swim the 200m butterfly in under two minutes. Groza retired from competitive swimming in 1978 and has since become a coach and swimming instructor. She is currently the head coach of the Romanian national swimming team. Groza is married to former Romanian swimmer and Olympic medalist, Gheorghe Groza, and they have two children.
