Andy Carr is a British comedian, actor, and writer. He is best known for his work on the BBC sketch show Not the Nine O'Clock News, which he wrote and starred in. He has also written for and appeared in a number of other television shows, including Blackadder, The Young Ones, and The Comic Strip Presents. Carr was born in Stoke-upon-Trent, England, and attended the University of Manchester, where he studied English and Drama. After graduating, he began performing stand-up comedy in London, and soon became a regular on the comedy circuit. In 1979, Carr was cast in the BBC sketch show Not the Nine O'Clock News, which he wrote for and starred in. The show was a huge success, and ran for four series until 1982. After the show ended, Carr continued to write and perform comedy, appearing in a number of television shows and films.
