Anton Yagama is a Papua New Guinean politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea since 2019. He was born on 31 December 1954 in the East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea. Yagama attended the University of Papua New Guinea, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Queensland in Australia. Yagama began his political career in the early 1990s, when he was elected to the East Sepik Provincial Assembly. He then served as the Minister for Education and Health in the East Sepik Provincial Government from 1992 to 1997. In 1997, Yagama was elected to the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea, representing the East Sepik Provincial electorate. He served as the Minister for Education and Health in the National Parliament from 1997 to 2002. In 2002, Yagama was appointed as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration in the National Parliament. He served in this position until 2007, when he was appointed as the Minister for Finance and Treasury. In 2019, Yagama was elected as the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea. He is the first Prime Minister from the East Sepik Province. As of 2021, Anton Yagama's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
