Antonio Vilaplana Molina was a Spanish politician and lawyer who served as the Minister of Justice from 1982 to 1986. He was born in Valencia, Spain, on 28 February 1926. He studied law at the University of Valencia and graduated in 1950. Vilaplana Molina was a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and was elected to the Spanish Congress of Deputies in 1977. He was appointed Minister of Justice in 1982 and served until 1986. During his tenure, he was responsible for the reform of the Spanish Penal Code and the introduction of the Law of Political Parties. Vilaplana Molina was also a member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1994. He was a member of the European Commission for Human Rights from 1994 to 1998. Vilaplana Molina died on 28 April 2020 at the age of 84. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
