Apolônia Pinto was a Brazilian actor and theater director. She was born in São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil, on 21 June 1854. She was the daughter of a Portuguese immigrant and a Brazilian mother. Pinto began her career in the theater in 1872, when she was just 18 years old. She was a part of the Teatro de São Luís, a theater company that was founded by her father. She quickly rose to fame and became one of the most popular actors in the city. In 1876, Pinto moved to Rio de Janeiro, where she continued her career in the theater. She was a part of the Teatro de São Luís, as well as the Teatro de Santa Isabel. She was also a part of the Teatro de São Pedro, where she was the director of the theater company. Pinto was known for her performances in plays such as "O Canto do Pássaro" and "A Vida de João de Barros". She was also known for her performances in operettas and musical comedies. Pinto was married twice, first to the actor João de Barros and then to the actor and director João de Souza. She had two children, a son and a daughter. Pinto died on 15 April, 1932 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was 77 years old.
