Arend Jan Boekestijn is a Dutch politician who has served as a Member of the House of Representatives since 2017. He is a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). Boekestijn was born on 27 September 1959 in Amstelveen, Netherlands. He studied law at the University of Amsterdam and graduated in 1985. Boekestijn began his political career in 1989 when he was elected to the municipal council of Amstelveen. He was re-elected in 1994 and 1998. In 2002, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the VVD. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2010. In 2017, Boekestijn was re-elected to the House of Representatives for the VVD. He is currently a member of the Committee for Education, Culture and Science and the Committee for Justice and Security. Boekestijn is married and has two children.
