Aristides Lima is a Cape Verdean politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Cape Verde since 2016. He was previously the Minister of Finance from 2011 to 2016. Lima was born in Boa Vista, Cape Verde, on 31 August 1955. He studied economics at the University of Lisbon in Portugal, and later obtained a master's degree in economics from the University of Coimbra. Lima began his political career in 1991, when he was appointed Minister of Finance in the government of Prime Minister Carlos Veiga. He held this position until 1995, when he was appointed Minister of Planning and Regional Development. He held this position until 2001, when he was appointed Minister of Finance again. In 2011, Lima was appointed Prime Minister of Cape Verde by President Jorge Carlos Fonseca. He was re-appointed in 2016 and has held the position since then. As Prime Minister, Lima has focused on improving the country's infrastructure, increasing access to education, and promoting economic growth. He has also worked to reduce poverty and inequality in the country. Lima is married and has two children.
