Arne Waldstein is a former Iowa state senator who served from 1973 to 1983. He was born in Brooke Township, Buena Vista County, Iowa, on January 17, 1925. He attended Buena Vista College and the University of Iowa, where he earned a degree in political science. Waldstein was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 1967 to 1973. He was elected to the Iowa Senate in 1973 and served until 1983. During his time in the Senate, he served as the chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Waldstein was a member of the Republican Party and was known for his fiscal conservatism. He was a strong advocate for education reform and was a leader in the effort to pass the Iowa Education Reform Act of 1983. Waldstein is married to his wife, Mary, and has two children. He is 89 years old.
