Artur Beul was a Swiss songwriter and composer who wrote over 500 songs in his lifetime. He was born in Einsiedeln, Switzerland on 9 December 1915. He studied music at the Zurich Conservatory and later at the University of Zurich. Beul's career began in the 1930s when he wrote songs for the cabaret scene in Zurich. He wrote for the cabaret group "Die Drei" and for the cabaret "Die Blaue Maus". He also wrote for the radio and for the stage. Beul's most famous song is "Der schöne Tag" (The Beautiful Day), which was written in 1945 and became a hit in Switzerland. He also wrote the song "Ein Tag im Paradies" (A Day in Paradise), which was recorded by the Swiss singer Vico Torriani. Beul's songs were popular in Switzerland and Germany, and he was awarded the Swiss Music Prize in 1965. He died in Zurich on 28 April, 1988.
