Ashraf El-Shihy is an Egyptian engineer and professor who is currently the Vice President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt. He is also a professor of engineering at Cairo University and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. El-Shihy was born in 1954 in Cairo, Egypt. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University in 1977 and his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university in 1980. He then went on to receive his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1984. El-Shihy has held various positions in academia, including professor of engineering at Cairo University, professor of electrical engineering at the University of Southern California, and professor of electrical engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has also held various positions in industry, including Vice President of Engineering at the Egyptian Company for Electrical Industries, and Vice President of Engineering at the Egyptian Company for Electrical Industries. El-Shihy has received numerous awards and honors, including the National Academy of Engineering Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering in Egypt, the Egyptian State Award for Excellence in Engineering, and the Egyptian State Award for Excellence in Research. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. As of 2021, Ashraf El-Shihy's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
