She is best known for her work in the field of education, particularly in the areas of early childhood education and special education. Riddervold studied at the University of Oslo, where she earned her master's degree in education in 1954. She then went on to teach at the University of Bergen, where she was a professor of special education from 1965 to 1990. Riddervold has written several books on education, including "Early Childhood Education: A Guide for Parents and Teachers" (1977) and "Special Education: A Guide for Parents and Teachers" (1980). She has also written several books on Norwegian culture and history, including "Norwegian Folk Tales" (1984) and "Norwegian Folk Music" (1985). Riddervold has received numerous awards for her work, including the King's Medal of Merit in Gold in 1990 and the Order of St. Olav in 1995. She is currently 94 years old.
