Barbara Billingsley was an American actress best known for her role as June Cleaver on the television series Leave It to Beaver. She was born on December 22, 1915 in Los Angeles, California. She began her career in the 1940s, appearing in films such as Red River (1948) and The Egg and I (1947). She also appeared in television series such as The Jack Benny Program and The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show. In 1957, she was cast as June Cleaver in Leave It to Beaver, a role she would play for the next six years. After the show ended, she continued to act in television and film, appearing in Airplane! (1980) and The New Leave It to Beaver (1983-1989). She passed away on October 16, 2010 at the age of 94.

In 2007 she was singing at her former Leave It To Beaver - The Lost Episode (1957), co-star's, Jerry Mathers's, mother's 80th birthday party, when he returned from appearing on Broadway, in his debut role, as Wilbur Turnblad in "Hairspray".
After her final role on Secret Santa (2003), she retired from acting at age 87.
