Macdonald's first major role was in the 2001 film The Mummy Returns, in which he played the role of Ardeth Bay. He went on to appear in a number of other films, including The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and The Great Wall (2016). Macdonald has also appeared in a number of television series, including The Bill, Casualty, and Doctors. Macdonald is currently single and has no children.
