He began his career in 1945 with the Uruguayan club Nacional, where he played until 1951. He then moved to the Brazilian club Santos, where he played until 1956. He then returned to Uruguay to play for the club Peñarol until his retirement in 1962. Throughout his career, Wexler won several titles, including the Uruguayan Primera División in 1945, the Brazilian Campeonato Paulista in 1956, and the Uruguayan Primera División in 1962. He was also part of the Uruguayan national team that won the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Wexler is considered one of the greatest players of his generation. He was known for his technical ability, speed, and dribbling skills. He was also known for his leadership and ability to motivate his teammates.
