Bob Higgins (trumpeter) was an American jazz trumpeter and bandleader. He was born in Idaho on April 21, 1925. He began playing trumpet at the age of 12 and was soon performing with local bands. He attended the University of Idaho and then moved to Los Angeles in the late 1940s. Higgins was a member of the Stan Kenton Orchestra from 1950 to 1952, and then formed his own band, the Bob Higgins Orchestra. He recorded several albums with his band, including "The Bob Higgins Orchestra Plays the Music of Stan Kenton" (1954) and "The Bob Higgins Orchestra Plays the Music of Duke Ellington" (1955). He also recorded with other jazz musicians, including Art Pepper, Shelly Manne, and Red Norvo. Higgins was a prolific composer and arranger, writing over 200 compositions and arrangements. He was also an educator, teaching at the University of Southern California and the Dick Grove School of Music. Higgins died on April 21, 2021, at the age of 98. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two grandchildren. At the time of his death, Bob Higgins (trumpeter) had an estimated net worth of $1 million.
