Brahim Chibout is a prominent Algerian politician who served as the Prime Minister of Algeria from 1979 to 1984. He was born on 24 March 1927 in the city of Oran, Algeria. Chibout studied law at the University of Algiers and was a professor of law at the University of Oran. He was a member of the National Liberation Front (FLN) and was elected to the National Assembly in 1962. He was appointed Minister of Justice in 1965 and Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1967. In 1979, Chibout was appointed Prime Minister of Algeria and served in that position until 1984. During his tenure, he was responsible for the implementation of the country's economic reforms and the establishment of the National Investment Bank. He also oversaw the development of the country's infrastructure and the expansion of its oil and gas industry. Chibout retired from politics in 1984 and has since been involved in various charitable and social activities. He is the founder of the Chibout Foundation, which works to promote education and health in Algeria. He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the United Nations Development Program.
