Bud Collins is an American former tennis player, journalist, author, and television commentator. He was born on June 17, 1929 in Lima, Ohio. He attended the University of Illinois, where he was a member of the tennis team. After graduating, he served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. Collins began his career as a tennis journalist in the 1950s, writing for the Boston Globe and Sports Illustrated. He was the first to cover the sport of tennis on a national level in the United States. He was also the first to cover the sport on television, appearing on CBS Sports in the 1960s. In the 1970s, Collins became a tennis commentator for NBC Sports, where he was known for his colorful commentary and his signature phrase, "Oh, me, oh my!" He was also the host of the popular show, "Bud Collins' Tennis Show," which aired on ESPN from 1979 to 1984. In addition to his work as a journalist and commentator, Collins was also an author. He wrote several books on tennis, including "The Bud Collins History of Tennis" and "The Bud Collins Guide to Tennis." As of 2021, Bud Collins' net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
