Bump Wills is an American former professional baseball player who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox. He was born on July 27, 1952 in Washington, D.C. Wills was drafted by the Rangers in the first round of the 1972 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut on April 7, 1977, and played for the Rangers until 1980. He then played for the Chicago White Sox from 1981 to 1983. Wills was a two-time All-Star, in 1979 and 1980. He was also the Rangers' team MVP in 1979. He finished his career with a .261 batting average, 1,093 hits, and 517 runs batted in. Wills is the son of former MLB player Maury Wills. He is the father of former MLB player Bump Wills Jr. As of 2021, Bump Wills's net worth is estimated to be around $2 million.

Wills now lives in Garland, Texas, with his wife Deborah. He coaches for the Dallas Mustangs, a youth select baseball club. He was slated to be the manager of the Royse City Griffins of planned the Southwest League of Professional Baseball in 2019, but the league folded before ever playing.

After playing with the Chicago Cubs in 1982, Wills played the 1983-1984 seasons in Japan before retiring. His MLB career batting average was .266 with 36 home runs and 302 RBI.

In 1978, Wills stole 52 bases, breaking Dave Nelson's single-season franchise record of 51 in 1972; the number remains a Ranger record for stolen bases in a season.

A switch hitter, Wills played college baseball at Arizona State University under College Baseball Hall of Fame coach Jim Brock. As a major league rookie in 1977, he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in March.
