Rice began his career in the theater, appearing in productions of The Tempest, The Taming of the Shrew, and The Merchant of Venice. He made his film debut in the 2005 horror film The Descent, and went on to appear in the 2006 drama The Last King of Scotland, starring Forest Whitaker and James McAvoy. Rice has also appeared in a number of television series, including the BBC drama series The Street, the ITV drama series The Bill, and the BBC comedy series The Catherine Tate Show.
