Catherine Byrne is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as Minister of State for Health Promotion since 2017. She has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-Central constituency since 2007. Byrne was born on 26 February 1956 in Bluebell, Dublin. She was educated at St. Mary's Secondary School in Inchicore and the College of Commerce in Rathmines. She worked as a civil servant in the Department of Social Welfare before entering politics. Byrne was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 2007 general election. She was re-elected at the 2011, 2016 and 2020 general elections. She was appointed Minister of State for Health Promotion in 2017. Byrne is married to John Byrne and they have two children. She is a member of the Church of Ireland.

Following the formation of a Fine Gael minority government in May 2016, Byrne was appointed Minister of State for Communities and the National Drugs Strategy. Upon Leo Varadkar's appointment as Taoiseach, she was appointed also, as Minister of State for Health Promotion in June 2017. She lost her seat at the general election in February 2020.
