Céleste Albaret was a French writer and housekeeper who is best known for her memoir Monsieur Proust, which was published in 1973. She was born in Auxillac, Lozère, France on 17 May 1891. She was the daughter of a farmer and had two brothers. Céleste Albaret worked as a housekeeper for the French novelist Marcel Proust from 1912 until his death in 1922. She was the one who took care of Proust's daily needs and was his closest companion. She was also the one who helped him to write his famous novel In Search of Lost Time. In 1973, Céleste Albaret published her memoir Monsieur Proust, which was a bestseller in France. The book was translated into English in 1981 and was well received by critics. Céleste Albaret died on 28 April, 1981 in Paris, France. She was 89 years old. Her net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
