Chip Lubsen is an American rower who was born on 13 July, 1955 in Alexandria, VA. He is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, having won gold in the men's coxless fours at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He also won a bronze medal in the men's coxless fours at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Lubsen began rowing in high school and went on to compete for the University of Washington. He was a member of the U.S. National Team from 1979 to 1992, and was the team captain from 1986 to 1992. Lubsen is currently the head coach of the men's rowing team at the University of Washington. He has also served as the head coach of the U.S. National Team from 2000 to 2004. Lubsen is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children. He is 65 years old.

Lubsen participated in the men's eights at the 1976 Summer Olympics and placed 9th overall. He qualified for the 1980 U.S. Olympic team but was unable to compete due to the 1980 Summer Olympics boycott. Lubsen did however receive one of 461 Congressional Gold Medals created especially for the spurned athletes. He was a member of the American men's eights team that won the silver medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California.
