Chris Woods (musician) is an American blues and jazz musician. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 25, 1925. He began playing the guitar at the age of 12 and was influenced by the music of Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and other blues and jazz musicians. He moved to Chicago in the 1940s and began performing in clubs and on the radio. He recorded his first album in 1951 and went on to record several more albums throughout his career. He has performed with many of the greats of blues and jazz, including Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and B.B. King. Chris Woods (musician) has been performing for over 70 years and is still active today. He has released over 20 albums and has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. He has also been honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. As of 2021, Chris Woods (musician)’s net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.

Woods played locally in Memphis early in his career before moving to St. Louis to play with the Jeter-Pillars Orchestra and trumpeter George Hudson. He then joined Tommy Dean's combo, recording with them for Town and Country, Miracle, and States. Striking out on his own, he first recorded as a leader in 1953 for United Records. In 1962 he moved to New York, where he played with Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Sy Oliver, and Ted Curson. He continued working with Terry into the 1970s, playing flute at times in his Big Bad Band. Jim McNeely played as a sideman on his 1978 release for Delmark Records. In 1983 he began playing in the Count Basie Orchestra, where he worked until his death in 1985.
