He has also performed with other notable blues and jazz musicians such as B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, and Willie Dixon. Harris was born in Chicago, Illinois, and began playing the piano at the age of five. He was influenced by the music of his father, a blues and jazz pianist. He began performing professionally in the 1940s, and in the 1950s he joined Muddy Waters' band. He toured with Waters for several years, and also performed with other blues and jazz musicians. In the 1960s, Harris moved to Los Angeles, where he continued to perform and record. He released several albums, including "Cornbread Harris and His Blues Band" (1966) and "Cornbread Harris and His Jazz Band" (1968). He also appeared in the film "The Blues Brothers" (1980). Harris is still active in the music industry, performing and recording with various artists. He has also been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.
