Dave McCabe is a British singer-songwriter and musician from Whiston, Merseyside. He is best known as the frontman of the indie rock band The Zutons. He is also a solo artist, having released two albums, "The West Coast" and "The King of the North". McCabe was born in 1981 and grew up in Whiston, Merseyside. He attended St. Helens College and then Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. McCabe's musical career began in 2001 when he formed The Zutons with his friends Abi Harding, Russell Pritchard, and Boyan Chowdhury. The band released their debut album Who Killed...The Zutons? in 2004, which was a commercial success and spawned the hit single "Pressure Point". The band released two more albums, Tired of Hanging Around (2006) and You Can Do Anything (2008), before disbanding in 2009. McCabe then embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album The West Coast in 2011. The album was well-received and spawned the singles "The King of the North" and "The River". He released his second album, The King of the North, in 2014. McCabe has also collaborated with other artists, including The Coral, The Rifles, and The Strypes. In 2015, McCabe launched his solo career with the release of his debut album Church Of Miami on 1965 Records. In contrast to previous output, the album isn't guitar based and has been compared to the likes of Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode

2012

In 2012, McCabe provided vocals along with the likes of Paul McCartney and Robbie Williams to The Justice Collective Hillborough charity single, a cover version of "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother".

In September 2012, McCabe was found guilty of assault after headbutting and breaking the nose of a 23-year-old student in Liverpool city centre. Reportedly provoked by the victim and his friends laughing about his girlfriend's coat, McCabe claimed he was protecting himself after the group surrounded him. The victim maintained that McCabe lunged at him after overhearing the group laughing He was given a community order and ordered to pay the victim £1,500 plus court costs of £3,500.
