David M. Rodriguez is a retired four-star general in the United States Army. He served as the commander of the United States Army Forces Command from 2011 to 2014 and the commander of the International Security Assistance Force and United States Forces-Afghanistan from 2013 to 2014. Rodriguez was born on 23 May 1954 in Overbrook, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1976 and was commissioned as an infantry officer. He served in various command and staff positions in the United States and overseas, including as the commander of the 82nd Airborne Division from 2006 to 2008. Rodriguez retired from the Army in 2014 after 38 years of service. He is currently the president and CEO of the Association of the United States Army. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Raytheon Company. Rodriguez is married to the former Mary Ann O'Connor and has two children.

Rodriguez commanded at every level across the United States Army. His assignments included the Commanding General of the United States Army Forces Command, the International Security Assistance Force – Joint Command (IJC) in Afghanistan, the 82nd Airborne Division, the 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, and the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He also commanded companies of the 75th Ranger Regiment, and 1st Armored Division.

Rodriguez previously served as the Commanding General of the United States Army Forces Command from 12 September 2011 until 15 March 2014. He has also served as Commander, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command (IJC) and Deputy Commander, United States Forces – Afghanistan (USFOR-A) from 12 November 2009 to 11 July 2011.

On 11 November 2011, Rodriguez received the Abraham Lincoln Award during a Veterans Day celebration at the Union League of Philadelphia. He was recruited by Tom Cahill to play for the Army Black Knights football team and earned varsity letters in football and baseball.
