David Simko is a professional racecar driver from Michigan. He began his career in the late 1970s and has since become one of the most successful drivers in the sport. He has won numerous championships and has been inducted into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame. Simko was born on November 26, 1954 in Clarkston, Michigan. He attended Clarkston High School and graduated in 1972. After high school, he attended Oakland Community College and earned an associate degree in automotive technology. Simko began his racing career in 1977, competing in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) series. He quickly rose to prominence, winning the SCCA National Championship in 1979. He continued to race in the SCCA series until the mid-1980s, when he began competing in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) series. Simko has won numerous championships in the IMSA series, including the IMSA GT Championship in 1988 and the IMSA GTO Championship in 1989. He has also won the 24 Hours of Daytona twice, in 1989 and 1990. In addition to his racing career, Simko has also been involved in the automotive industry. He has worked as a consultant for several automotive companies, including General Motors and Ford. He has also served as a driving instructor for the Skip Barber Racing School. Simko is currently retired from racing and is living in Michigan. He is 66 years old.
