He then moved into acting, appearing in films such as The Blues Brothers, The Howling, and The Terminator. He also had a recurring role on the television series The A-Team, playing the character of "Big John". Benda has also worked as a production designer on films such as The Last Starfighter, The Karate Kid Part II, and The Goonies. He has also worked as a set decorator on films such as The Color Purple, The Money Pit, and The War of the Roses. Benda is married to actress and producer, Susan Benda.
