Digambar Kamat is an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Goa from 2007 to 2012. He was born in Margao, Goa, India on 8 March 1954. He is a member of the Indian National Congress. Kamat completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Goa University in 1975. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the same university in 1977. Kamat began his political career in 1984 when he was elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly. He served as the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Affairs from 1994 to 1999. He was then appointed as the Minister of Power, Environment and Forests from 1999 to 2002. Kamat was elected as the Chief Minister of Goa in 2007 and served until 2012. During his tenure, he was credited with introducing several reforms in the state. He also initiated several infrastructure projects such as the Zuari Bridge and the Mandovi Bridge. Kamat is currently a member of the Goa Legislative Assembly. He is also the Chairman of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee. As of 2021, Digambar Kamat's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.

Digambar Kamat quit the Indian National Congress (INC) in 1994 and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) when he was denied the INC ticket. In 2005, he left the BJP-led government in the state and returned to the Congress. On 25 July 2007, Kamat's government fell into crisis, as it appeared to not have a majority after resignations and alliance break-ups. However, it saved itself and went on to rule Goa for the next 5 years up to 2012. He resigned from the post of Chief Minister on 6 March 2012, after the BJP won 24 seats against INC's 9 seats in the Goa Assembly Elections held in March 2012.
