Don Edwin Malawaraarachchi was a Sri Lankan politician and diplomat. He was born on 27 December 1925 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was educated at St. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia and the University of Ceylon. He was a Member of Parliament for the United National Party from 1965 to 1970 and served as the Minister of Education from 1965 to 1970. He was also the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States from 1970 to 1975. He was a member of the United National Party and was a close associate of Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike. He was also a member of the Senate of Sri Lanka from 1975 to 1977. He was a recipient of the Sri Lanka Ratna, the highest civilian award in Sri Lanka. He passed away on 28 April 2021 at the age of 95.
