Doncho Zhekov is a Bulgarian wrestler who was born on 1 August, 1952 in Burgas, Bulgaria. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a silver medal in the Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, and a bronze medal in the same event at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He also won a gold medal at the 1979 World Wrestling Championships in San Diego, California. Zhekov began his wrestling career in 1968, and was a member of the Bulgarian national team from 1972 to 1984. He was a six-time Bulgarian national champion, and won numerous international medals throughout his career. After retiring from competition, he became a wrestling coach, and was the head coach of the Bulgarian national team from 1992 to 1996. Zhekov is currently 72 years old.
